❗An Alberta logging group wants to change laws protecting at-risk species so it can log old-growth forests. AWA's @PhillipMeintzer explains why that would devastate the declining caribou populations. Does the forest industry truly #loveABforests ? fitzhugh.ca/opinion/column…

At Risk species are called that for a reason. Old growth forests are unique habitats. www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/in… Albertans have always been so proud of our beautiful province and its abundant wildlife. Are we going to stand by and let it be destroyed for the all mighty dollar?

Studies have shown that range riding can reduce depredation incidents by more than 50%. For example, the Blackfoot Challenge reported significant decreases in wolf-livestock conflicts through proactive range riding combined with carcass management & community engagement.

Rumour has it the Govt of Alberta is likely making a major announcement about pro-coal development tmrw 9:30 AM. Fridays before holidays is when they do this so the public is distracted. Watch @ alberta.ca/news and get ready to scream at your MLA to protect our water.

#Ableg Today, Danielle Smith is rolling out the red carpet for an Australian billionaire to DESTORY our mountains, POISON our water, and ship toxic coal to China for pennies. There is ZERO gain—just a legacy of ruin. Why is the UCP selling out Alberta to foreign interests?

The decision to open up our Rockies to coal stripmining and poisoning our headwaters isn’t just an issue of environment vs economy. It’s economy vs economy: coal mines employ only a handful of folks and send the profits to Australia but actively reduce growth in ag and tourism.

Sweden is a huge country that would need many thousands of wolves to ensure health of its ecosystems. Reducing population to a couple of hundreds means the species will remain ecologically absent. theguardian.com/environment/20…

I believe that one of the hallmarks of human progress is learning to co-exist with other species that our ancestors once feared And sadly, it often feels like we still live in the Dark Ages... theguardian.com/environment/20…

We knew this a month ago when trapping limits were removed...more importantly, Todd Loewen, a trapper himself, knew this a month ago, yet still did what he did.

John E Marriott Photography (@johnemarriott) 's Twitter Profile Photo

So now we know that wolverines should be listed as a Threatened spp in Alberta, will Minister Loewen actually pay attention to the science for once or will he continue to ignore it at the expense of our wolverines?

Cheryl Bozarth BSc🌎🌱🦉🇨🇦 (@cherylbozarth) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The #Alberta govt; United Conservative Party of Alberta, continues to gaslight Albertans. There’s no scientific reason, or any reason to open unlimited trapping on ‘at risk’ #wolverines! This decision was made to appease one special interest group. Contact Alberta Forestry and Parks minister to voice your concern

Growing up in Toronto in the early 70s, as I walked to school every morning, I would daily experience racist slurs shouted at me from random people on the street. It was like a sport to them. I was a child and they were much older teens. We didn't import racism. It's home grown.

Please read this. It’s important. No matter what happens with the Canadian Federal election this year, one thing will be true — a significant percent of Canadian voters and media will have been successfully manipulated to oppose a beneficial carbon pricing approach that was

Things the UCP do/have done I think are terrible, #1 Allowed the return of coal mining in the Rockies, but gaslight us and say they aren’t. #easternslopes #notocoalmining #ableg #SouthernAlberta

This makes my blood boil. It is simply criminal for a govt to permit a private company to operate without having built a proven system for preventing toxic contamination of the environment. Asked to pay for it (after the fact), the company declares bankruptcy. Criminal.
