Archaeologists from Durham Archaeology & The Auckland Project discovered some fascinating things during a summer of digs at Auckland Castle. And there’s still time to go along and see for yourself what they found ⛏️ bit.ly/4dw9PiP #DUinspire
Fairly mardy Arriva North East driver told me rudely to ‘fold up your pushchair’. Since I’m in no rush, I made a stand. Got off and waited for the next (very friendly) Go North East bus. Being as kind as you can is the hill I will get off the bus and wait another 10 minutes upon.
A reminder to our members that as official partners of the forthcoming Nautical Archaeology Society Annual Conference - themed 'Archaeology of Waterways' at Durham University (15-18th Nov 2024) we qualify for the significantly discounted 'members weekend' rate! Remember the 16 hour road trip from the North East to the back end of nowhere in Oxfordshire for this Chris Gerrard ?
Much more rain here and we’ll need to call some of our underwater archaeologists friends from Nautical Archaeology Society when they’re in Durham for their conference in Nov - which’ll be worth checking it out. If you’re an AASDN member there’s a reduced rate nauticalarchaeologysociety.org/annual-confere…
ICYMI (I did), our The Auckland Project Young Archaeologists' Club YAC was given an award by Durham County Council's Durham Youth Council! 🏆 Really proud of them for their kindness with each other & willingness to get stuck in with all sorts of #archaeology activities! aucklandproject.org/news/award-win…
Really enjoyed this whole day; learning more about zooarchaeology from the excellent Clare (Dr Clare Rainsford), and gaining some great ideas and for activities that our The Auckland Project YAC members are going to love!
