From this it looks as though #StormDarragh has just gone over Cumbria. Are you seeing winds going round to the North yet? Stay safe... bbc.co.uk/news/live/cwy4…

Much sympathy for staff at the Westmorland and Furness Council Flusco recycling centre (Penrith) having to clear deep snow from their big site, manually using shovels! Roads are well cleared and fine to reach it, but the message is "Come back tomorrow"! #InviteTheSnowPloughIn?

Thanks Westmorland and Furness Council for 'liking' this. I was gently suggesting it'd be kind to the staff (and customers) to have run a snowplough round the site so it could have opened today! But they may all still be out gritting roads, or off-shift having a well-earned sleep.

The brightening sky over Carlisle Lake District Airport reveals the runway where the Windermere Boys landed in 1945. I'm reporting live on #HolocaustMemorialDay for Mike Zeller BBC Cumbria - hearing again how the 45 Aid Society recreated an iconic photo with survivors in Prague in 2019.

Possible sightings of the RED ARROWS flying over Cumbria in the morning. Likely to overfly Workington, the Lake District, Windermere and just N of Kendal / Sedbergh. Between about 0950 and 1005. More info here...

Thanks Roger Lytollis for your entertaining Cumbria Life column from last year about the lighter side of your visit to Carlisle A&E. Making me smile, reading it in similar surroundings in the waiting room in Penrith!

Great pleasure to host Mike Zeller and Jess for a spontaneous lunchtime BBC Cumbria production meeting in the sunny Eden Valley! He'd been recording nearby, so the coffee machine went on....

Scorchio: and look at that inviting water! Lazonby Outdoor Swimming Pool is sparkling after a big refurbishment. Been reporting live from the 'Costa del Lazonby' on Stephanie Finnon's BBC Cumbria show. Another day doing the #BestJobInTheBBC

Interesting sign, that for once doesn't shrug off ALL liability like lots of others. But can't really fathom why anyone would expect they'd be liable for something that's *not* their fault?

Reporting live this morning for Mike Zeller on BBC Cumbria, as £1.3 billion pound plans are confirmed to dual the A66 from Penrith to Scotch Corner. This is Kirkby Thore, the last village on the existing route that's not already bypassed.

"I thought this day would never come." An "ecstatic" Anne Ridley who lives and farms by the A66 in the Eden Valley, on today's news that the dual-carriageway upgrade's been confirmed. She's less happy though to be losing some "irreplaceable" farmland under the new road.

Worth watching the sky in parts of Cumbria tomorrow - the Red Arrows are due to fly over twice! Northbound expected just before 6pm, and southbound just off the West Cumbria coast about half an hour later. More info and map: google.com/maps/d/viewer?…
