It was a pleasure to be back at Danbury Ridge Wine Estate to taste some the hotly anticipated 2020 Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, as well as an exclusive preview of the outstanding #EnglishSparkling that will be coming in a year or two. It was perfect to toast to winemaker Liam's 40th birthday!

It was great to put my blind tasting practice (thanks @BlindFaithWine) to test at Danbury Ridge Wine Estate for a rather epic international Pinot Noir tasting with the Danbury team, Matt grapebritannia and John Atkinson MW. I brought along James@Begude Capella Pinot Noir.

Screwcap v Cork continued… Cork - Higher stakes - risk/reward…reward won the day Screwcap - Rise of the food technicians. Older wines definitely had that after the ‘Best Before Date’ taint.

Blue skies and sun, has the spring finally arrived? Today I revised one of my favourite #EnglishSparkling Rosé of last year, Balfour Winery Saignée Rosé 2018 and paired with a duo of tasty homemade pizzas. Yum, I just can't get enough of this wine!

I turned 40 yesterday, and celebrated over the weekend with so many great friends, family and wines including wines from the four decades of my life... 82, 92, 02, 12. Obviously #EnglishWine featured strongly too, including Nyetimber 92, Hoffmann & Rathbone and Albury Vineyard 12.

Great to catch up with the man that helped kick off my wine journey, Robbie Priddle. I think we first met over a glass of KershawWines Chardonnay at an Naked Wines UK tasting. And we've shared the epic Nyetimber BdB 92 once before. Hugely value your friendship & generosity mate.

In unsurprising news... Samantha O'Keefe is a brilliant host and total legend. Perhaps more insightful info... her '20 Estate Chard is nothing short of ridiculously good. Haven't had a SA Chard epiphany that big in years. Buy!!
