#30DayChartChallenge Day 1: Part-to-hole Was always curious to see which Pokémon type was the most common? Turns out it's water! I am also a firm believer in "never stop learning". Does anyone know if it's possible to use images in geom_text? #RStats

#30DayChartChallenge Day 2: Pictogram! I had a quick half-hour to try and recreate yesterday's chart but as a pictogram! Never thought to make a pictogram before. It was really interesting. The graph below is called a waffle chart!

#30DayChartChallenge Day 3: Historical! After scratching my head a bit, I decided to plot the temperature during the Battle of the Atlantic during WWII. The closest weather station was at Lajes. All the major historical events are indicated. Really enjoyed this one!

#30DayChartChallenge #day4: Flora! I decided to go check how much of the land area at the Equator is covered by forests! 🌲 Turns out, we still have a lot of forest area 📈 I used one of the colour palettes from the peRReo package by @JuanBGonzalez13 git: jbgb13/peRReo

I am finding the topic of smoothing very interesting! Have a look at this very beautiful local weighted regression animation illustrating the effect of different spans📉 Source: rafalab.github.io/dsbook/smoothi… #datasciece #R #smoothing #loess #R4DS

#30DayChartChallenge #day5: Slope! I tried to challenge myself a bit more with more than just a chart with today's challenge. I scraped data from a website using #rvest. I was curious to see what market grew the most over the past year (grouped by continent)

#30DayChartChallenge #day6: Data day! I think that I probably have the most shares when it comes to coffee! Today, we had to use data from #OWID. I decided to visualise the production of coffee per capita (kg) in the top 10 countries from 1961 to 2019. I feel very proud!

I wish data journalists would stop making line graphs that connect obviously noisy data. The jumps are likely just sampling noise. Use some sort of smoothing.

In today's post Wolpie shows that the male-female population pyramid in SA historically had a broad base, with a young population & high birth rates, but has become more column-like as birth rates have declined & life expectancy improved. More: codera.co.za/national-popul…

The one person who really inspired me to learn more about R and data analytics is definitely David Robinson! I know he is super busy with his work at Contentsquare, but it would be so amazing to bring back his Tidy Tuesdays Screencast series! I still watch videos uploaded 5 years ago!
