melissa Joeys health issues are such a struggle for her lately. I have known Joey for a few years and am very sure that her long period of homelessness and ongoing financial struggles make those health issues far worse. Poverty has a DIRECT effect on both mental & physical well-being.

melissa this is a very common issue - not being able to access treatment, because guess what those commonly impacted are predominantly women.

Lipedema is disregulated fat nodules & becomes entangled with surrounding connective tissue. It presses on nerves causing pain, swelling & inflammation. It’s disfiguring & impacts mobility & many like myself feel shame & suicidal ideation. chuffed.org/project/kb6v-h…

The lumps you see on my arm is lipedema fibrosis. Entangled fat & connective tissue clumping together to form a fibrous mass that’s dense & painful to touch. Lipedema is resistant to diet & exercise.

The only way to stop the pain is liposuction which is completely out of reach. I can only manage the disease with lymph drainage massage & compression garments. An arm sleeve in Aus is $500. I need help getting a formal diagnosis & buying garments. chuffed.org/project/kb6v-h…

I could use your help with my fundraiser for Travis on GoFundMe. Please share, support, or donate—every small action counts. gofund.me/ab7367ef2

Lots of pain today. I can’t fully straighten my legs and it hurts to walk. I’ve returned to bed to massage my legs more, so that I can function. Have taken a Panadeine Forte, so that I can cope with touching my legs without crying. #ThisisLipedema Mark Butler MP
