The Tories were probably never going to win this election. But they had a choice of how to fight it. They have done so in the way they have governed: desperate, nasty, petty and small. They have not made an argument for Conservatism but a show of entitled petulance. CHANGE.

Carol Vorderman @SimplyRedHQ A vote for tory is a vote that supports my horrific treatment I was abandoned disabled without rehabilitation, support or medical discharge when injured on deployment in 2012 🤬 Spent 10 years fighting an unwinnable battle against the government and MOD #VoteLabourJuly4th

More from yesterday! I had a fantastic meeting with Colsterworth energy about methane capture. As a climate tech nerd I was in my happy place😂

Since we were in Colsterworth, it would have been rude not to chat to people! We had a great response. If elected, I’ll make sure to be present in all parts of our large constituency.

Last evening before polling day. I’ve been in Thurnby and Bushby. We had a really solid response tonight. Dozens of people voting Labour.

My great fear, that I will lose by less than the Green vote. Please don’t vote Green. It would be such a colossal own goal. We have the ability to elect an MP with 20+ years experience in climate and nature. Unite with me and we will get the change we need.

Well, we didn’t get a Labour gain here but we did double our vote share on the 2019 results! Thank you to everyone who supported me and I’m sorry that I didn’t get you the result you deserved. I’m really proud of the effort the clp put in though.

🇬🇧 Today marks a very dark day for fundamental human rights in the UK. Daniel Shaw and his co-defendants have been sentenced to spend 4 & 5 years in a prison cell for planning a peaceful protest. This decision is beyond comprehension. Full statement here: unece.org/sites/default/…

This is beyond appalling. Five years in prison for discussing a potential future protest on a Zoom call. They didn’t even take part in the protest. Beyond chilling and whether or not you support JSO ( I don’t) we should all be deeply alarmed by this attack on freedom of speech.

Victoria Atkins fancies her chances of being the new leader of the Conservative Party. I hope she gets it, her party will be out of power forever. Serves them right, they, as The Speaker told Atkins, behaved abominably

British Gas owner Centrica to post £1bn profits for first half of the year. Will hand billions to speculators in share buybacks rather than investigating or lowering customer bills. Their profiteering is our cost of living crisis, but there are no curbs. mirror.co.uk/money/british-…

PS - Richard Tice and Lee Anderson absolutely do not know what they are talking about. They do not know or understand policing. They are quite irresponsible and they absolutely have an agenda. Do not listen to them or pay them any heed whatsoever. ENDS.

When public school-educated multimillionaires fire up fascists to burn down the Citizens' Advice Bureau in a town where one child in three lives in poverty, that's more than just 'rightwing populism'

Nick Timothy MP To be honest, Nick, if I were the fella who wrote the "citizens of nowhere" speech I'd probably be spending this week hoping everyone had forgotten I existed, rather than pretending to be one of the good guys here.

We have to be clear what people are now demanding. Not the right to free speech. But the right to lie. The right to spread malicious information that could impede an ongoing murder investigation. The right to incite people to riot. And they should just admit it.
