Friendly reminder: Carles Puigdemont (former President of Catalonia) was elected democratically on a platform of holding a referendum. He did just that. Like him or not, he's no criminal; Spain should stop treating him like one. Self-determination is a right, not a crime.

Madness. Police roadblocks out of Barcelona causing long delays as they mount what is effectively a counter terrorism operation in "the hunt" for Puigdemont - a Catalan MP who should not even be facing arrest given the amnesty law. The legislation is crystal clear on this.

Whatever you think of Carles Puigdemont, it's 100% clear that he is a POLITICAL threat, not a SECURITY threat. Questions of proportionality aside, treating POLITICAL threats like SECURITY threats (as is the case in this surreal manhunt) is not befitting of democratic / EU norms.
