One of my favourite birds of the year. This elusive Western Bonelli’s Warbler which popped out in front of myself and Dan Ballard at Three Castles Head, Mizen on Saturday. Heard to call. BirdGuides
This front looks good for bringing American passerines to the W and SW of Ireland. Dropping birds on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. Given its two weeks earlier than usual, it will might have some unusual species..maybe a first for Ireland. BMcCloskey He called first 🤣
News of an interesting warbler found by waterfordbirds on Brownstown Head this eve necessitated an immediate visit! Turned out to be a Paddyfield Warbler (mega!!) After much deliberation. As the light faded, a Black-headed Bunting showed up too! Scenes!! Adrian Allen Brownstown Birds
Nice eclipse drake American wigeon on Inishmore island, Co, Galway this evening with Joe Proudfoot and Hugh Delaney. #autumnbirding BirdGuides
Delighted to finally see a red-eyed vireo today on Inishmore island, Co, Galway. Found yesterday by Hugh Delaney. Eclipse male American wigeon also still with a white wagtail in the area too. #autumnbirding
Proof if proof were still needed 🤣🤣🤣 BirdGuides RareBirdAlertUK that there were indeed two Baltimore Orioles on Inishbofin. Big thank you to @1squidge BMcCloskey for coming up with the proof, twice in one day!
Tough 6 days on Inishmore came to an end today. Wind never really eased up at all, best we could do was American Wigeon and a Red-eyed Vireo found by Hugh Delaney. Disappointing not to score something better given the birds that turned up, maybe next time..
An outrageous day on Inishmore, Galway. Pied-billed Grebe, Bufflehead, American White-winged Scoter and American Wigeon. Quality winter birding! BirdGuides
After dipping Sociable Lapwing in Kuwait during December, I couldn’t resist twitching this bird in Cornwall today with @1squidge. Amazing to finally catch up with this critically endangered wader! 💪🏻 Great to catch up with some top lads too cliff smith Sam Viles Matthew Deans
One of my favourite finds to date! Found this 1w female Lesser Scaup on Monalty Lough, Carrickmacross late this evening. The first record for Co. Monaghan! BirdGuides
Can’t bloody believe it. Just found the 13th Savi’s Warbler for Ireland in a tiny reedbed on the Louth/Monaghan border. Reeling away constantly. Will upload recordings later. BirdGuides LouthBirdNews
