I'm all for the Olympics, both summer and winter, evoking the spirit of Pierre de Coubertin. However, allowing someone carrying an ACL injury to compete in downhill skiing, even a former Olympic champ, was a risk too far. I hope Lindsey Vonn is going to be OK.

"When you've got Pochettino, Tuchel and Ancelotti". But the thing is those managers are under contract in international football. Some might still be after the World Cup. Also, the World Cup finishes on 21 July, by which time pre-season will have started.

Do any of our ex-players ever come up with any useful suggestions? Scholes likes Romero, yet seemingly doesn't like Martinez despite - a) Martinez being a proper leader, b) being a better defender than Romero & c) He usually manages to stay on the pitch for 90 minutes.

bbc.co.uk/news/articles/… : There are always polarising conversations on immigration, not least when some stoke the fire with hyperbole & misleading info. 1 thing that this affair definitely confirms to me though is that Ratcliffe is a wrong 'un who I wish was nowhere near United.

skysports.com/football/news/… : Given Spurs' propensity to chopping and changing, I would have thought Henry Tudor would be a more suitable appointment.

He might not be to everyone's taste, but it seems Harry Brook is very definitely intent on sticking two fingers up to his critics in the most productive manner possible. Sportspeople fuelled by anger to being criticised & on a redemption arc can very quickly switch the narrative.

Noticeable that since Carrick took charge, United have kept 3 clean sheets in 6 league matches. Under Amorim, they'd kept 2 in their first 21. While Carrick gets acclaim for that, I don't think it's coincidence the defence has got tighter since Steve Holland came in.

India just seem to get first dibs on doing whatever they want when it comes to cricket, irrespective of whether that cheapens the sport or damages the cache of the competition in the process.

The people of Manchester have shown themselves in a good light twice this week. Firstly, by not electing Reform in the Gorton & Denton byelection, and now by putting that grifter Jim Ratcliffe in his place. Not that I would expect anything less.

c.org/tfnfwtSz6Q : I was listening to Dave Hendon's Snooker Scene podcast & he read out an email from a listener about a snooker club threatened on closure that's been based on church grounds near Fiveways since 1931. This seems rather uncharitable behaviour by the church.

bbc.co.uk/news/articles/… : How about a compromise? Historical figure 1 side, animal on the other side? I dare say that would then upset the royalists, but then again, the monarch has only appeared on BofE notes since 1960, over 200 years after the 1st £10 note was introduced.

Kind of the reverse to this is going to Canvey Island (where Brighton played an FA Cup tie in 1995). I went there to watch Burgess Hill 2 weekends ago. Most places in town and in the ground insisted on cash and, where they didn't, there was a minimum card payment of £10.
