Beyond his pioneering use of industrial materials, #AlexanderCalder had a deep respect for humble ones—for “Tree” and "Red Sticks," Calder used bits of discarded objects such as glass, mirror fragments, and wood. On view at the gallery through January 28.

Out of #AlexanderCalder’s experimentation “drawing” with wire came “Cirque Calder,” (1926–1931) a small-scale circus designed to be in motion. Calder continued to create wire sculptures within the circus theme throughout his career—as seen here in “Acrobats” (c. 1927).
