Hours later, the set up for the Cobra scenario is done. The play book would benefit from fixing the errata, inconsistencies, lack of information that would help finding units etc. Has GMT Games ever played the scenarios other than on Vassal ? Not OK in a “Deluxe version”.

Cobra about to begin. The whole German line is rather thin and the Panzer Lehr is about to be carpet bombed. The Battle for Normandy from GMT Games.

Operation Cobra moving ahead. Big US superiority but the bocage -3DRM and the scarcity of supply points are devilish. The Battle for Normandy from GMT Games.

The Germans defend in depth in bocage and are really tough to crack unless you have plentiful supply, which the Allies don’t have. The only weak point is defended by the Panzer Lehr, but the 275D is rushing to set up a line in Canisy behind them. Battle for Normandy by GMT Games

If the break is going to happen, it’s gotta be here. The Plan: 2Arm Div holds the left flank of the gap, 30Div the right one, and 3Arm Div stabs like a knife. Operation Cobra, Battle for Normandy from GMT Games

Now that Team Snafu & SDT has taken over the development of 2 games of mine (😳) -a simple one set up in 1926 Catalonia and an operational one on the Ebro battle (both solitaire)-nothing stops me from trying to design a solitaire gran tactical game about a section of the Ebro 😂.

For the Republicans, this pre pre prototype focuses on: Soviet-style doctrinal rigidity and orders transmission in a radioless war. For the Nationalist bot, on the accumulation of momentum to guide its responses.

Germans keep fighting withdrawal using bocage, hills and rivers as natural defenses. (Try dislodging an infantry battalion from a bocage hill across a river!). The center is still the likeliest place to manage a decisive breakthrough. The Battle for Normandy from GMT Games

The final break is about to happen. Germans are exhausted and they can no longer hold the right flank: not enough units to keep shifting them to close gaps. The Battle for Normandy from GMT Games

Finally, on July 29 (1944, not tomorrow) operation Cobra breaks through the German defenses at Villebaudon. I think I’ll call it a day. It’s been very fun, even playing solitaire. Fantastic game, a shame the subpar “deluxe edition”. The Battle for Normandy, GMT Games

Trying to relearn how to play Combat! from compassgames. I had a blast playing it almost a couple of years ago, I hope to manage again this time.

Yes, i remember this feeling of generating film-like narratives full of thrill and excitement. I don’t know about the realism but it is definitely fun. Combat! By compassgames.
