Pitching, in its most general sense, is the disruption of a hitter's timing. Inducing weak contact, or swings and misses, is the goal. Greg Maddux told me one time, during my first WBC when he was the World Baseball Classic USA Baseball pitching coach, that every pitch he delivered was

This is why Driveline Baseball is bullshit. Baseball players are not robots. This is how I feel about mlb brass and driveline. Baseball players are human. Treat them like it! Most of those numbers are page fillers. They are creating video game players. Need more real coaches! MLB

Just another reminder that front office people with NO experience are the ones making the call! In no world would a real baseball manager have Butler in there today! Let the managers manage! MLB MLB Front Offices

What the hell are these stats!? 20 HRs with 35 RBIs? And not hitting his weight! But he’ll get paid bc these dumbass nerds in the MLB OVERVALUE the HR. MLB

Driveline doesn’t make any sense. They aren’t producing complete hitters(high avg, HRs,high RBIs, and high OBP). They’re making good BP hitters that are low in BA and RBIs with high Ks. But your swing velo or your EV! Bad teaching! MLB

This graphic says a lot. The fans of the velocity crowd will tell you “Guys throw harder now” and are backed up with the fact that there is so much more intent in the way players throw the ball now and train for it The “old school guys” will tell you this isn’t how it should

2011: Wade Boggs & Jim Rice on analytical approach then creeping into MLB - Rice: no Table Setters anymore, MIF w/HR approach - Boggs on 200 K seasons: "That's a joke!" - Rice defending his 100 K seasons w/.300 BA to Boggs #shegone #RedSox National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum ⚾

Bob Feller on state of pitching (2009). He's rolling over in his grave w/how much worse it's gotten. - Don't throw enough between GS - Poor conditioning, not prepared to go 9 IP - Over coaching - Most throwers, not Pitchers - Bad bullpens #shegone #GuardsBall National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum ⚾

Exactly! Keep it simple. No need to change anything mechanical at first which is the “go-to” fix that organizations preach. That is WRONG. Focus on your approach first! MLB Driveline Baseball

What?!? I do not agree with this bs statement of bat speed. So you’re saying the harder you swing the more HRs you’ll hit?? What a ridiculous statement! No hitter over 14/15 should swing at a 100%. If they do they will DEFINITELY have more swings and misses. Not more HRs.

Can someone with baseball analytic knowledge show me where the metrics are for heart, grit, determination, mental toughness, being a good teammate, confidence….? Aren’t these traits extremely important in what kind of player you have/want? MLB MLB Front Offices Driveline Baseball

Volpe needs a teammate (not a coach!) that he can talk with. I’m almost positive these players aren’t “talking” with each other. Any veteran player would sit down and really talk with him about APPROACH. His swing is a DIRECT result of his approach! MLB
