Maker Crew installed the first 15 floor outlet covers into classrooms today! Many rounds of prototyping, testing & feedback to go from 3D print -> vacuum mold -> resin pour -> post-processing -> classroom! Invaluable end-to-end experience! #WeAreCountryDay Country Day
Engineering students learned about sound: frequency, wavelength, harmonics, noise, & sine curves. They created the equation for each note in a song & programmed notes into Mathematica to play the song. Thanks to Mr. Tracey-Miller for help with chords! Country Day #WeAreCountryDay
Sewing in engineering class? Absolutely! Students are inventing wearable devices that use LEDs and light sensors in unique and useful ways. Stay tuned to see what can be created with conductive thread, electronic components, fabric, and creativity! Country Day #WeAreCountryDay
Country Day #InvenTeam Update: Tech team built & coded a small circuit; Communications team unveiled the team-designed logo, planned out Mid-Grant Tech Review posters & designed business cards; Admin team organized tasks/owners/due dates. Making great progress! #WeAreCountryDay
Engineering students pitched their light-up wearable inventions during class today. To make the prototypes, they used conductive thread to sew circuits and connect components -- lots of patience and grit required! #WeAreCountryDay Country Day
Country Day More about Engineering's wearable inventions: Check out this video of one group's working circuit and another group's very cool light-up glasses invention! #WeAreCountryDay Country Day
Country Day #InvenTeam Update: Aaah, one sneaky, burned-out LED can cause a lot of trouble! Despite the delay, the team made steady progress on the prototype & communications prep for the Mid-Grant Tech Review. Two more meetings this week after exams! #WeAreCountryDay
Country Day #InvenTeam made great progress over break: finalized the team logo, created print materials for the mid-grant tech review, designed a custom circuit board, played with a dev board for potential IoT ideas, and devoured a lot of snacks! Lemelson-MIT Program #WeAreCountryDay
#InvenTeam Update: The Mayor of the City of Cincinnati has proclaimed February 20, 2024 as "Cincinnati Country Day School InvenTeam Day" in Cincinnati! We picked up the proclamation today - so proud of our team & their important work! Country Day #WeAreCountryDay Lemelson-MIT Program
Country Day is searching for our next Systems Administrator to support our benchmark learning environment. Apply or share more broadly! linkedin.com/jobs/view/3836…
#InvenTeam Update: HUGE THANKS to Lucy at UC's Ground Floor Makerspace for taking time to give us a tour, explain prototyping techniques & equipment, and provide ideas for design & fabrication of a mounting mechanism for our invention! Country Day #WeAreCountryDay 1819 Innovation Hub
#InvenTeam accomplished a LOT over spring break: designed, assembled & soldered new circuit boards; laser cut prototype parts; designed & printed window clings to increase awareness of safe-passing laws; trained AI models; wrote a blog post. Whew! Country Day #WeAreCountryDay
The Country Day InvenTeam is at #EurekaFest2024! Watch us present our patent-pending bicycle safety invention on Wednesday, June 12 at 10am here: web.mit.edu/webcast/lemels… WE. ARE. SO. EXCITED!!! #WeAreCountryDay Lemelson-MIT Program
Country Day InvenTeam's #EurekaFest2024 presentation & showcase was a huge success! MIT Beaverworks selected our invention, IllumiLane, to receive the Golden Beaver Award!!!! Lemelson-MIT Program gave us the Excellence in Communications Award!! So proud of this team! #WeAreCountryDay
