1.Saturday’s grammar tip is lie vs. lay. It will have to be a thread.

To lie means to take a horizontal position.
To lay means to put something down.

Lay is used with a direct object. To check, remember the children’s prayer: Now I lay *me* down to sleep.

vække 🌻 J.F. Riordan “Was stood” is a feature of (some?) British dialects. No idea if it is considered standard or incorrect there though. (US English speaker here.) Where are you hearing it?
