Kyiv is specifically lobbying for Patriot systems currently idle in Poland, Romania and Spain to be sent to Ukraine, two people familiar with the talks told the Financial Times.

All-clear announced in Kharkiv after a strike in the centre, at least 3 injured. Mayor says it was guided bombs - the winged aerial bombs that do extensive damage.

Reading an essay by a very distinguished ru literature prof which includes Kharkiv on a list of Ukrainian cities that 'had never been Ukrainian at all' (it's about early 20th c). Watching Russia bomb Kharkiv every night in an attempt to make the same point.

Third air-raid warning of the day in Kharkiv, and power out for several hours so the air hums with diesel generators as well as sirens. Warnings, again, that planes capable firing guided aerial bombs have launched to the north of us.

Couldn't stop smiling this morning stepping off the train into sunny Kharkiv. Air is much fresher than Lviv! One year almost to the day since I was here. Air raid alert went off immediately, and explosions heard late morning then around lunchtime. It's every day for people here.
