"Exceptionally rare for archaeology of this date." Excavations of the 8th-century monastery at Cookham reveal more of Anglo-Saxon life and death. Along with staff and students Uni of Reading archaeologists are working on land beside Holy Trinity Church, until the end of August.
Madingley Hall, Harlaxton Medieval Symposium's new home is certainly very beautiful (but needs a better bus service). Some fascinating papers on the first day - including the dramatic tale of the nuns of Dartford (once home of Bridget of York) after the Dissolution.
