On July 7, the GECA Emergency Communications Field Coordinators participated in a training day in Athens, GA. The field training included a class presented by ISO Mitigation on the role that 911 and Emergency Communications play in the Public Protection Classification. #Training

For today's #HometownHighlight, we're recognizing Austin Brewster, Communications Shift Leader at Ware County 911. Austin stepped up and took over the role of supervising and managing shifts for the center during the COVID-19 outbreak within Ware County's center.

Yesterday marked the end of the most intense training course of my 15 year career and I became a P.O.S.T. Certified Instructor for the State of Georgia.

On Thursday, GEMA/HS and GECA Field Coordinators Don Strength and Jonathan Jones responded to Stephens County's call for assistance in searching for a lost person in the Big Leatherwood Falls Refuge area. Coordination of resources and communications support were provided by us.

On Tuesday, September 21, the GECA Staff participated in a training day at Spalding County's EMA in Griffin, Georgia. Field training included a class on Disasters in the 911 Center and an overview of the GEMA/HS Homeland Security Division.

Yesterday, GECA Field Coordinator, Jonathan Jones, joined our public safety partners for a Table Top Exercise. Our partners included Hall County EMA/HS, Hall County E-911 Communications, Hall County Fire Rescue, Hall County Sheriff, Gainesville Police, justin farrell, Gainesville Public Works, and NGHS

On Saturday, GEMA/HS Field Coordinator, Jonathan Jones and Homeland Security Coordinator, Kevin Stanfield, were on hand with the GEMA/HS Mobile Command Vehicle to support the Georgia World Congress Center Authority Look Up Atlanta fireworks show.

Georgia TERT has received an in-state request from Dawson County E-911 for a team 3 personnel to assist in their center while staff attend the funeral services of a long-time co-worker. Cherokee County E-911 is in the process of rostering TERT members to fulfill the request.

GEMA/HS Field Coordinator Jonathan Jones and Homeland Security Coordinator David Shanks participated in a tour for Union County School's Government and Public Administration program. The tour allowed our team to explain our agency's role and collaboration during disasters.
