Really satisfying to go into a research meeting worried that I wasn't productive enough this week, but ending up having a discussion so rich that my mentor pushes back his next commitment an hour to see it through. Reminding myself to trust the process, that I do belong here

good review. pivoted away from AAV research bc the challenges outlined herein, then started grad school and pivoted again from telomere work bc measurement issues in assays. will my scientific career's trajectory always be dictated by the biomarker hype curve?

excited to share the preprint of my first project with the Moffit & Caspi lab & HaririLab Duke ! we show that both motor and cognitive functioning are associated with the functional topography of higher-order brain networks during midlife biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Gait speed variation is assoc with individual diffs in brain networks that typically support complex cognitive ability. Important contribution in parsing out biomarkers that index nervous system health & decline as early as midlife. Jazzed. Ethan's preprint available on bioRxiv

Spent the week at @LHRS2024 chatting about the future of longitudinal research and presenting a project which quantifies pace of child development and relates it to pace of adult aging. Very thankful to be included in this paper symposium (the paper is incoming!).

#JGSSAdvAccess study reveals a significant link between early childhood brain function and midlife physical function using data from the Dunedin Study 🇳🇿. Having poorer brain function at age 3 ➡️ worse performance at age 45. Gerontological Society of America (GSA) OUP Medicine doi.org/10.1093/geronb…

📣 We are recruiting a PhD Student and Postdoc for Fall 2025 - spread the word! The Hariri/Moffitt/Caspi team is a great fit for those interested in midlife brain aging, its origins in early life, and its implications for later life. More at haririlab.com/research.html

some people age faster than others – but how should we measure it? excited to share our preprint where we propose a new measure of the rate of biological aging that can be derived from a single structural brain scan biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
