내 진로에서 가장 중요한 사건은 서울대학교 대학원에 다닌 것이다. 나는 지도교수님으로부터 연구의 모든 것을 배웠다. 내가 존경하는 교육기관인 서울대가 1저자를 (모든 책임을 져야하는 독립된 연구자가 아니라) 연구를 배우는 학생으로 다뤄주시길 간절히 소망한다.

연구 윤리에 대해. 대학원에서 생산한 모든 결과물에 대한 연구 윤리 위반은 원칙적으로 지도교수가 온전한 책임을 져야한다고 생각한다. 이는 실험 조작, CVPR에서 논란이 된 표절 등을 포함한다. 가령 나는 2015년에 한정했을 때 송유근 표절 논란은 지도교수가 온전한 책임을 져야한다고 말해왔다.
