If Panda Express isn't sponsoring the plane that is transporting the pandas from Washington DC to China, their marketing team should be sued for malpractice. It's like the Holy Grail of marketing opportunities.

Great thread that answers a good-faith question re: why we should support Ukraine in its war against Russia that has little if anything to do with "it's the right thing to do ethically." Whatever you believe re: ethics, it is almost certainly the right thing to do economically.

cannot even begin to express how frustrated i am with @delta right now. Flight cancelled on Friday afternoon, so stand in line at SLC for 7 hours until 4AM to get booked on flight to DC on Sunday morning. Now, Sunday morning flight is also cancelled. And no voucher for hotel.

Remember the "technical recession" (two quarters of negative G.D.P. growth) in early 2022? Turns out it never happened. Annual revisions now show output grew slightly in Q2 2022, and that growth coming out of the pandemic was faster than previously believed.

And yes, this is why we don't use G.D.P. as the basis for recession calls. The indicators that NBER uses (such as employment, income and spending) were all quite clear that the U.S. wasn't in a recession in 2022.

I was never a big Halloween guy. I don't enjoy dressing up and find it oddly stressful to come up with ideas for a costume. But man, it's such a fun holiday with kids and a unique opportunity to strengthen bonds with neighbors. 10/10, would recommend!

Per today's employment report, the Black UE rate is up to 8.3% (was 7.5% in September and 6.0% in May). Eyeballing the data, the only times we've seen an increase in Black UE that large / sustained is during or immediately before a recession. Let's hope this time is different.
