Understanding the disease triangle can help illustrate why there is minimal active gray leaf spot in this check plot. All three components must be present at the same time. In this case, the host is absent, breaking the cycle.

Backyard check plot is now crabgrass. The new check plot in front yard getting pounced immediately by GLS. Pretty brutal year for fescue in the south.

For those in the Southeast that battle TARR, current weather conditions may warrant tightening your application interval to every 3 weeks.

Between the rain, Dr. Kerns team at NC State were discussing a timely concern. Pythium root rot. Best long term treatment: 3 way tank-mix of sunlight, air movement, and drainage. When not available - programs with Fame + Serata rotated with Resilia did pretty dang well.

I was away for a couple of days and took some time to scout for armyworms after noticing egg masses. The damage extending away from the house looked suspicious, but it turned out to be GLS again. Dodged a bullet.

Drone photo time-lapse of what PRR can do to bentgrass in the south. Reach out if you’d like more info. We’ve developed programs that incorporate 5 MOAs to combat it.

Abnormally cool and wet conditions in August have triggered early poa germination in upstate SC. This is in addition to a few plants that persisted through summer. Consider a POST with a PRE this fall where expectations are high. Happy to help build a program that works for you.

Evening walk around the neighborhood. We noticed very large poa plants in bermudagrass lawns and the most hunting billbugs we’ve seen all year. Teaching the tug test.

Continued GLS activity on the fescue well into September. Non stop machine since May. Pretty impressive how persistent this has been. I could see how growing ryegrass for a few years prior can really rev up the inoculum load.

Poa already throwing up seedheads in upstate SC. Well past any “reach back” that some PRE’s can offer. Temperatures are still great for some great POST activity this fall with Tribute.

What do all of these white boxes with ultradwarf bermudagrass samples have in common besides the box itself? They all were diagnosed with mini ring this week. We are diagnosing a LOT of UDB with that disease right now. Heads up!

Saw lots of mini ring today. Visited a research trial where 21-day rotations of Resilia and Kalida were doing great. Also saw a pretty nasty breakout of mini ring on fairways. Lots of symptoms now as the Bermuda is slowing down.
