A seminal work of shojo manga, THE HEART OF THOMAS (1974) was an early example of the shonen-ai (boy’s love) sub-genre. Creator Moto Hagio was part of a new wave of female mangaka (Year 24 Group) that innovated shojo, introducing complex themes that dealt w/gender & identity.

#Death_s_Game #이재곧죽습니다 As an avid fan of #SeoInGuk I had to watch it; brutal at times but the plot gets tighter and tighter as it nears its end. Definitely worth watching, esp ep 5-8 but without watching the first 4 eps it would be less gripping.

Korean director #KimSooYong passed away on the 3rd of Dec 2023 at the age of 94. He worked w late #YunJeonghie in the 60s and 70s: #Mist (67) #NightJourney (77) #SplendidOuting (78). Yun also passed away earlier this year.

#Cobweb a new #KimJeeWoon ’s film that captures film production scenes in the 1970s; a post-synchronized film-within-the-film I liked and a fine performance by Jang Young-nam who plays a film producer Baek and so is Jung’s as actress Ha Yu-rim.

#DrCheon_and_Lost_Talisman #shamanism continues to provide the theme for, and inspire Korean #fantasy and/horror genre. #Kang shows his lighter side in this film (similar to A Violent Prosecutor) and works well more or less.
