I need some help. The current narrative around Glyophosate is that we will lose field massively, labor needs will increase dramatically, and the consumer will pay dearly. I don't buy that narrative. Are there resources outside of the typical anti-round up drivel I can read?

Things are about to get Western at the Allen County Fair.

What a crazy spring. Did some replant yesterday on a field that had 1.25 inches of rain 7 days ago then 4 days of 90 plus temps. Ground was still wet. Heavy residue from back to back to back cereal rye cover crops preventing drying.

Was doing a cost projection for a local pig farm and needed to use fall deliver prices. One elevator is at -35 and the other at -20 for corn. Checked beans, -50 and -35. These elevators are about 11 miles apart.

With $100 hogs, corn in the low $4's, and sub $300 SBM there is a chance at some equity recovery for pig farmers, not enough to overcome the losses over the past five years, though.

Many say were in teh doldrums of the crop growing season. For me we are in the "Experts need to get out in the fields" season where the rhetoric heard in the media doesn't match what people see in the fields.

There's a theme in the podcasts I listened to recently: Massive, above trendline yield. I get it, crops look good in a lot of places, but for me the math is not mathing. If we have a larger acreage than usual, the acres added are NOT in the I-States, they are low yield acres.

Why is Backyarditis only criticized when people lament a poor crop in their area?

Here's a question for USDA experts: Can you certify acres as "Prevent Plant" even if the acres were not prevent plant through crop insurance?
