A view of St Patrick's Cathedral ruins ( C12-C13 ) on the Rock of Cashel in County Tipperary. The ribbed vaulting of the ceiling is especially nice. The roof collapsed in 1848 and was never restored. #medievalmonday #ireland #heritage

Kirkstall Cistercian Abbey Chapter House. I did a little reading about the single massive column and while obviously structurally significant, spiritually it could have represented divine unity or the centrality of faith in monastic life. #medievalmonday #england #leeds

This beauty is living inside a historic estate called Anne's Grove Garden, located in rural County Cork. It's a lovely park with extensive gardens. I enjoyed a day here this past weekend. Happy #thicktrunktuesday #treeclub #ireland

A beautiful scene of the Royal Air Force Chapel inside Westminster Abbey. Interestingly, I understand that this chapel was damaged by a German bomb during WW2. There is a hole in the wall behind the RAF flag. #tracerytuesday #wallsonwednesday #london #westminster #england

Interior of Cormac's Chapel on the Rock of Cashel. Built between 1127 and 1134. Some of the best frescos in Ireland are in this area. There are excellent carvings along the archivolt of the arch as well. Too many things to list. #wallsonwednesday #ireland #medievaltwitter

The Church of the Holy Rude in Stirling, Scotland. It’s one of the few churches in Britain still in use that hosted a coronation - King James VI was crowned there in 1567. #wallsonwednesday #windowsonwednesday #woodensday #scotland

Open doors to a beautiful chapel inside Glasgow Cathedral. It's such a bright contrast in there compared to the darker nave behind me. My focus was on the column here, it's very nice and clean. But it's Thursday, so #adoorablethursday #nocontextdoors #glasgow #scotland

Elaborate gate here at the entrance of Green Park by Buckingham Palace. This is called the Canada Gate and has the 6 coats of arms from the Canadian provinces plus the original 1868 coat of arms of Canada. Details details details. Nice. #thursgate #lovegates #england #heritage

Durham Cathedral nave-to-cloister door. I'm not sure why it hasn't been repaired. It's lovely of course in any condition and I posted it's mate last week for comparison. #adoorablethursday #nocontextdoors #durham #england #heritage

Thistle brooches take their name from the criss-cross decoration on the ends of the ring. They were made by Viking metalworkers and used to fasten clothes. This C10 example was found in Loch Leven, Argyll. At the Kelvingrove Museum in Glasgow #findsfriday #museum #scotland

Gratuitous Scotland post 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿. A lookout sentry over the Clyde estuary from Dumbarton Castle and Fort. Even though rainy and cloudy we had a good day. Can't beat the Scottish hospitality. Hope you're having a good day wherever you are. #flagfriday #fortfriday #Scotland

This staircase at Dumbarton Castle had a really nice arch in the middle or so. There were quite a few visitors this day so I had to snap and hope for the best. #staircasesaturday #scotland #dumbarton #Heritage

Joining in on this #postboxsaturday that everyone seems to be having so much fun with. There's not a lot of these in Ireland, so I've snapped a few on my recent travels. This one is from Durham.
