The Nevada Assembly has passed SB451, a bill to extend a property tax to employe Las Vegas police officers. Assm. Jill Dickman was the only vote in opposition, saying the decision should not rest with the Legislature, but rather the voters who initially approved the tax in 1996.

Spin SB451 all you like…the real issue is, no politician should be able to bind their constituents to a 30 year special tax on their property without their consent. Much can happen with the cap over the next 32 years. Politicians are constantly trying to figure a way around it
