2024 African Heritage Month celebrations were held in Cape Breton on Jan. 26 & 27. African Nova Scotian Affairs Twila Grosse helped proclaim the month at Centre 200 in Sydney and took part in the 16th Annual Gala Celebration at the Membertou Trade & Convention Centre.

This year's Nova Scotia Heritage Day is dedicated to William Hall, the first person of African descent and the first Nova Scotian to be awarded the Victoria Cross. I encourage all Nova Scotians to take some time to learn more about his story, an inspiring piece of NS heritage.
