The DOE's new policy on cell phones has passed the PEP, by a vote of 14 yes votes, 1 no, 1 abstention. The policy largely leaves it up to each school to determine how to store any cell phones collected, but sets guidelines on implementation, exceptions and discipline.

NEWS: The percentage of specialized high school seats going to Black and Hispanic students this year declined from 2024. 3% of seats at specialized schools went to Black students, down from 4.5%. And 6.9% of seats went to Hispanic students, down from 7.6%. Story to come shortly

For the last several years, this data was release in mid-June. Before that, it went out in April. I (and others) have been asking about it for weeks, and today it was abruptly released on a very busy news day, in the middle of a dangerous storm.
