Congrats to Jieying He on her new paper! She found that interference in speaking while listening *isn’t* proportional to overall task difficulty: low name agreement pix are easier than expected to name when listening to speech. Shows importance of attention focus in conversation

Happy to share that our new paper is out in Collabra:Psychology. We replicated name agreement and semantic context effects in speech production by using a web-based modified blocked-cyclic naming paradigm.

Thank you, Laurel! This paper cannot be published without your help. Yeah, I’m looking for a postdoc position. My research interest is the cognitive and neural mechanism of language production…Feel free to page me if you have any ads/positions/news…thx!

Happy to share that our new paper is out in QJEP. We investigated how speech production is disrupted by different types of irrelevant background speech, and how speakers copy with the auditory disruption. Laurel Brehm Candice Frances Ava ☺️

Excited that Jieying He 's new paper is out in QJEP! We asked: what happens when you have to speak while listening? If you don't speak the background speech language, do you get disrupted? what if the background language task is different than yours? (1/2)

All conditions led to disruption- even the unintelligible language. But, intelligible language disrupts *surprisingly less* when what you're naming is hard-- suggesting a role of top-down engagement or attention tuning (2/2)
