So excited to share that an expanded version of Barrett Powell's #tomoDRGN manuscript is now live at Nature Methods - huge congrats to Barrett on getting this out!! Read more here: rdcu.be/dADZC.
Read about an amazing new cryo-ET data processing tool developed by Barrett Powell from the Joey Davis @[email protected]! Check out my news article on this work and the publication out now in Nature Methods. biology.mit.edu/davis-lab-explโฆ nature.com/articles/s4159โฆ
Cheers to an awesome collaboration w/ Joey Davis @[email protected] MIT Biology UMLifeSciences. More exciting stuff to come. Stay tuned!
So much fun working with this crew! Barrett Powell's #tomoDRGN+Shyamal Mosalaganti /Tyler B.'s tomographic collection strategies is a potent combo for looking at ribosomes in situ! Interested in feedback, so let us know what you think.
Our latest review on the 'Critical Steps in the Assembly Process of the Bacterial 50S ribosomal Subunit' is now out in Nucleic Acids Research. Anatomy&CellBiology McGill University McGill School of Biomedical Sciences CRBS McGill academic.oup.com/nar/advance-arโฆ
Thrilled to share that I'll be starting my lab WUSM Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics this summer as an Assistant Professor, studying regulated proteolysis in bacteria and human mitochondria via ATP-dependent AAA proteases.
We made Surforama to support particle picking on surfaces, particularly for cryoET. You can visualize surfaces in the tomogram to localize, label, and analyze proteins or other particle types. It runs as a napari๐ฌ plugin and in standalone mode. #teamtomo
It was wonderful to have around 60 Sauer Lab alumni at MIT Biology this week, spanning from those who started in 1978 to now! Great scientific talks and tributes for the legendary biochemist and mentor, Bob Sauer.
I'm thrilled to announce the Wankowicz Lab will be opening in August Vanderbilt Molecular Physiology & Biophysics, AI Center for Protein Dynamics, and Vanderbilt Center for Structural Biology. We will be developing novel methods to model conformational ensembles and study how entropy affects enzyme specificity and catalysis!
Day 3 of the cryoET image processing workshop: Barrett Powell teaching us how to parse out heterogeneity using tomoDRGN! Making it look so easy ! Amazing. ๐คฉ
Incredibly fun to work with Alireza Ghanbarpour and Bob Sauer on this project - read more here: biorxiv.org/content/10.110โฆ. Also, exciting things brewing in the Ghanbarpour lab at WashU, be sure to check out Ali's new group (sites.wustl.edu/ghanbarpour/)!!
