Secure Data Environments (SDE) policy published by Transforming health and care today - builds on Trusted Research Environments (#TREs) concept - i.e. privacy by design where analysts & researchers access data inside SDEs, instead of having data distributed to them. A major change in policy.

So there we have it. It is confirmed that Scotland is snow-free yet again. The last patch, the Sphinx, disappeared sometime in the last 24 hours. The Sphinx has now vanished four times in the last six years, having done so only five times in the last 300 years. (1/2)

"How sad on this October day, To see our hedges shorn away. Small creatures would have liked to eat, The hawthorn berries, rose hips sweet, Blackberries & nuts & sloes, But through the blades the banquet goes. Won't somebody heed our words, And leave the berries for the birds."😢

So Dr Adam Rutherford is receiving a lot of skepticism about his tweet saying that if Cheddar Man has any genealogical ancestors today, he is the common ancestor of all present-day humans. Adam is correct about this — I think this is such a cool finding, so I'll explain it below.

Phenomenal. Bar-tailed Godwit has broken its own record: a first-year bird (five months old!) has flown 13,560 km—just shy of the direct flight limit of a Boeing 787—from Alaska to Tasmania, seemingly non-stop, in just 11 days (avg. speed: c.51 km/hr). facebook.com/43794949621875…

In 1970, there were still around 20,000 capercaillie in Scotland. The latest survey suggests as few as 542 birds remain. What has happened? The answer is by no means black and white. Read our latest rewilding story: bit.ly/3NB4PNB

Today is the first day of winter and I want you to watch this video of Christmas #Mariupol as it was a year ago, when the city and its residents didn’t yet know what awaited them in 2 months.
