Working with BCMHouston students excited to start their clinicals reminds me of 1) how amazing our line of work is and 2) the joy of teaching. What lights your fire and protects you from burning out? #meded

Confused by someone labeled "immunocompromised" and their infection risks? Same. So with guidance of our ID Mentors Prathit Kulkarni, MD, Nico Cortes-Penfield MD FACP FIDSA 🦴💊, & Deeksha J. Hard to believe I’m at the end of an amazing, challenging, and incredibly rewarding chief year. Couldn’t have done it without Eva Amenta, Holland Kaplan, Tony McClafferty, Jefferson L Triozzi, MD, MSCI and all the leadership and residents - glad I will always have my BCM IM Residency family ❤️

If you know me you know that my favorite question on rounds (and in life) is WHY. Excited to have new MedEd lingo to describe this. MCW IM Chief Residents residents, get ready to hear the phrase "endpoint diagnosis" at noon report & on rounds. I <3 this.

Impressive diagnostic concepts👇 A must-read article for all clinicians and educators! 👏👏 Prathit Kulkarni, MD Holland Kaplan Jacqueline Birnbaum

What a great experience taking this concept from conversations with Holland Kaplan and Prathit Kulkarni, MD at BCM IM Residency Morning Report to publication. Looking forward to learning more about diagnostic reasoning with UTHealth Houston IM Residency and y'all out there on #MedTwitter #MedEd

Had a blast discussing diagnostic reasoning at a great Med-Rad-Path conference with our UTHealth Houston IM Residency residents and the UTHealth Houston Infectious Diseases discussants. Hickam won today’s battle!

It has been an amazing few years as an APD at UTHealth Houston IM Residency and before that at BCM IM Residency. I’ve grateful to have worked with amazing residents and educators, and am sad to leave Houston, but excited for new adventures in Seattle at General Internal Medicine at UW Medicine and UW Medicine Residency!
