When your employer neither solicits nor respects the voices of its employees - and has repeatedly put children in harm's way because it ignored employee concerns - then being able to go to the media is a necessary safety valve. There is no justification for this. #phled

At the campaign launch for Paul Prescod running for State Senate. Such an inspiring collection of union leaders, educators, and working people from throughout our District -- all sharing ways they've been inspired by Paul and his absolute dedication to working folks.

The main theme of Paul Prescod's campaign launch: consistency. He has been in public and on the record standing up for workers and public education for a lot longer than he's been a politician. He's earned a lot of trust and that builds a lot of excitement.

Great speech from Tisha - we're talking someone who would be "not just a senator, but an organizer who would fight tooth and nail for public education, healthcare for all, worker's rights," and more. Paul Prescod

Dana Carter, member of RacialJusticePhilly: Possible policy that would forbid #PHLed staff from speaking to media w/o communications approval is wrong. "Advocacy is a part of every teacher I associate with." Trust your staff.

Amara Rockar, a #PHLed Lea parent: Penn Alexander usually sends many needy students - those with autism, ELL, etc. - to Lea. Has concerns that such students will now be pushed out of Lea. "Red flags. Don't miss them," Rockar says.

Lea parent and WPCNS member Phil Gentry criticizes the agreement's desire to "emulate the success of Penn Alexander," which he says would be a profound failure of policy. Full text here: docs.google.com/document/d/1n8…

We have a new supt and it's Tony Watlington. He was the best of the candidates and I'm more hopeful than I expected to be. But the hiring process raised many lessons, abt public engagement & abt our failure to cultivate internal leadership. Philadelphia Board of Education must do better #PHLed

The lack of quality, good paying union jobs lies at the root of so many problems we face. Working people need more power in our economy and society. I'm proud to be endorsed by so many labor unions! #UnionStrong

My plan was to stay on the picket lines, not run for office — but our city and state are in crisis. This campaign is about political courage and the power of working people. Vote for Paul Prescod on May 17! m.youtube.com/watch?v=v5FtsR…
