Returning to Gaza now, I see destruction that defies belief, from Rafah, via Khan Yunis, to Gaza City. This is destruction of an entire society of more than 2 million people, in a densely populated, small, confined territory. This is in no way “self-defence.”

Is incredibly difficult to move around inside Gaza and to reach those in need here. Getting aid into and around Gaza is a vast, bureaucratic & logistical challenge. We must have a ceasefire, and we must have access, so that we can reach those in truly desperate need.

This week Jan Egeland has been in Gaza. He told BBC News (UK) he saw "devastation, despair, beyond belief". "It's evident that it is first and foremost children and women who are paying a price for this senseless war," he said. bbc.com/news/articles/…

I’m back in Sudan, which suffers the worst displacement crisis in the world:  14 million people have been driven from their homes by armed groups acting with impunity. Millions receive no real aid nor protection. The few remaining safe areas are bursting at the seams. 1/2

🇸🇩 Norwegian Refugee Council's Jan Egeland says the war between the #Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces has pushed #Sudan to the edge of #famine. The United Nations has accused both parties of weaponising hunger since the conflict broke out in April 2023 👇

The day the #ceasefire was announced, displaced families are returning to South #Lebanon. Israel continue to restrict access to 60 Lebanese villages. The damage to infrastructure is severe. There is a mix of hope for the ceasefire to last, and acute concerns about the winter.

Here in Odessa, & right across Southern Ukraine, civilians are paying a terrible price under indiscriminate Russian attacks. In recent months the attacks on civilian homes and infrastructure have intensified. Many have exhausted all their reserves this 3rd cold war winter. 1/3

Kherson, Ukraine: The local authorities here explained to me that there have been 30,000 attacks on civilian homes & infrastructure across the region. Most social, administrative, educational activities take place underground. Drone & missile strikes now a feature of daily life.

92% of #Sudan’s host families in the east report receiving ZERO food aid in the last 6 months—while sharing their homes with displaced families. The humanitarian system is overwhelmed. Contact me for interviews, B-roll & access to survivors’ stories. nrc.no/perspectives/2…

Today, we provided drinking water for 15,000 people in Jabalia refugee camp in North Gaza. Many Palestinians told our staff that this was the first water they received in three days. Since the ceasefire, we’re expanding our response and reaching areas that had been off-limits.

BREAKING: Cameroon is now the world’s most neglected displacement crisis, according to a new NRC report. Decision makers must recognise that displacement isn’t a distant crisis; it’s a shared responsibility which cannot be ignored. nrc.no/news/2025/june…
