Collaboration is essential to building a robust cyber talent pipeline. Only a quarter of today’s cyber workforce is made up of women – together we’re aiming to have women make up 50% of the workforce by 2030. We must start by exposing all K-12 students to cyber ed.

Intro: My lifeline and energy always comes from graduates coming back and telling me that they decided to study CS because my class(es) made it accessible to them. Exposure is powerful, even if it isn’t the only factor. #EinsteinFellows23

A1: “If You Give a Moose a Muffin” by Laura Numeroff is a great introduction to logic and reasoning through conditional statements; I use it in HS Geometry! I’d also get some of the older elementary kids started with the Girls Who Code series. #EinsteinFellows23

A2: In CS, I love finding informal ways to engage Ss in tech. This ranges from daily a #SETpuzzle to interviewing family members about the internet. Teaching in Silicon Valley presented many opportunities for tech field trips to Computer History Museum and Google #EinsteinFellows23

A3: My fave topic to address through movies is the impact of computing. I’ve done this through screenings of documentaries like CodeGirl, The Social Dilemma, & Coded Bias Documentary with schoolwide participation & guided discussions. #EinsteinFellows23
