needed to look up smth in WebSIS (MIT student portal) for a testimonial about issues w/ name/gender data, and found that the gender question (which we critiqued in 2022 in an open letter + suggested better ways to collect gender data) is still "removed pending community feedback"

so despite it being 2 years since our open letter and a lot of discussion about how gender and name info needs to be reported, in particular *transparency about where legal name and sex info is required and limiting its use and propagation to those places only* [cont]
