#Humberto is a Category 5… …Almost… It’s just a couple mph away from such but a high end C4 at that with winds up to 135kts (155mph) #tropicswx

BREAKING: Hurricane Humberto’s winds have just explosively intensified from 60 mph to 160 MPH in just 48 hours, making him the SECOND Category 5 Hurricane of the 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season. His eye is a 925 mbar portal to the violent ocean waves below. This is now the first

BREAKING: Hurricane #Humberto has strengthened into a Category 5 hurricane, the second Category 5 storm of the 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season. Maximum winds of 140kts (160mph), minimum pressure of 925mb. Back to back seasons with multiple Category 5 hurricanes.

The NHC has upgraded #Humberto to a Category 5 hurricane, the second of the year. To my knowledge, this is the second time in recorded history where there have been two years back to back that had 2+ hurricanes of this strength, with the only other years being 1932 and 1933!

Not almost, IS! #Humberto is now the 2nd C5 of the season & is now the 1st time since 2007 where 2/3 of the 1st 3 hurricanes are C5s! #tropicswx

#Humberto is now a Cat 5 - 160 mph! It’s the first time in nearly a century with back to back seasons with Cat 5’s in the Atlantic. We are seeing our warmer future unfold in real-time, IMO. For years climate change research has shown that seasons would struggle with stability

Hurricane Humberto has been upgraded to a Category 5, with maximum sustained winds of 140 knots (160 mph) and a minimum central pressure of 925 mb. This is the second Category 5 hurricane in the Atlantic this season, joining Erin.

#Humberto officially becomes a category 5 hurricane, this is the second C5 hurricane of the Atlantic season. This is the 1st time since 2007 where 2 of the first 3 hurricanes are C5s! This is also the first time in 92 years with multiple Category 5 hurricanes in back to back

This multi-decadal oscillation era we’re in (since ~1995) has given us some unreal Atlantic hurricane seasons. What a time to be a hurricane enthusiast.

#Humberto reminds me of Jebi 2018, which also had a very smooth and symmetrical CDO and a sharp, round warm eye. It is notably smaller than Jebi though. Officially at 140knots per NHC, but I could see it being higher at 145-150knots due to CDO shape and eye structure.

The 2025 Atlantic hurricane season has been one of the strangest ever. From Aug 23–Sept 19, not a single storm formed, the first time that’s happened since the 1930s. Then in just the last week, two Cat 4+ hurricanes broke the quiet streak, and now Humberto is a Cat 5. All 3

Unbelievable satellite imagery of the sun setting on Category 5 Hurricane Humberto, as lightning bursts light up the eye of the storm

Has been a while since I talked about Typhoon Neoguri but the system is still very much alive. In fact Neoguri has been doing very well for itself today and has warmed its eye to more then 10°C. The satellite presentation is a bit ragged but still very good for 34°N.

#HUMBERTO is the 44th Atlantic hurricane to reach Category 5 status since records began in 1851. Interesting how close it is to ERIN earlier this year. Each dot represents where a storm first became a Category 5 hurricane.
