It takes about 3 full off seasons to turn a program into a situation where you can win consistently. Your skin gotta be thick cause people are going to talk about you when you lose. You gotta just make a mental note of it and keep moving forward. They’ll try to be your friend

This is from Bill Walsh's playbook. Love his thoughts on practice. 1. Players got the practice schedule the night before. 2. practice was structured and everything done at full speed like a game. 3. learning process was accelerated. 4. All players expected to be mentally

The best teachers I've seen don't use a wide range of activities. They do a few things, and they do them well. They hone them, practise them, and know exactly when each one should be used and why. The students become habituated to them, and learning goes through the roof.

Self-awareness defines Oregon Football. For Coach Lanning, growth starts long before the film session. After every game, players write down their reflections — what they did well, what needs to improve, and where they can level up. It’s not about being told what went wrong —

Frequent self-reflection helps us all grow. Coaches constantly reflect on what worked, what didn’t, and what can be done better. If they don’t, they don’t last long. Being concerned about your job should be the rule for all professionals, not the exception. Too much entitlement.

There are 4 Levels of Competitors 1. Commander - A competitor who pulls others with them. 2. Competitor - Internally motivated to be their best. Has a championship mindset. 3. Contender - Need external motivation. 4. Survivor - Gets by. Takes the easy way out. - Robert Saleh

We’re fundraising for Sawyer & Captain, 2 senior mustangs born in 1997 and 2000. They are in this kill pen facing shipping to slaughter. Deeply bonded, they’ve been together for decades and we’re determined to save them and keep them together. To Donate: bit.ly/3I1ucWT

If I had to divide schools into 2 categories, it’d be those with mission-driven urgency and those that act like time is unlimited. Time sure feels endless until it’s your child who can’t read. At the end of the day, it’s strangers’ children who bear the consequences of inaction.

Crazy idea: hold principals accountable for school results. When that happens, good things tend to follow—stronger instructional leadership, initiatives aligned with student growth, and clarity without distractions for teachers.

Brad Stevens was asked, “What’s the one thing you look for when hiring a coach or drafting a player?” His answer wasn’t talent. It wasn’t hard work. It was just two words - and every great team should build around them.

1) Explicitly teach new concept/skill 2) Ask students to practice concept/skill 3) Test students to see if they learned it 4) Re-teach or move on accordingly This is teaching. This is how we learn. This is the essential cycle of a classroom You cannot innovate past it

If a child starts behind in reading, the odds of catching up fall fast: • 49% in kindergarten • 29% in first grade • 18% in second • 5% in third We don’t have a third-grade reading crisis. We have an early learning problem. Great take, Chad Aldeman. chadaldeman.com/p/do-not-wait
