On Oct 7 Simon Tilley revealed a 2018 letter from Adderley’s boss, Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Stephen Mold, on why he was appointed Chief Constable.

It cited Adderley’s “career on the frontline” and said he had served “over 10 years in the Royal Navy”
