A country with no maternity/parental leave or pay, the highest maternal mortality rate of any developed country and a huge financial burden associated with pregnancy & giving birth has taken another step to prevent women from choosing whether to end or continue their pregnancy.

Rights are not absolute. They are in the hands of the people we elect to represent us. In Ireland we have elected a representative who will today seek to hand a maternity hospital to a religious order with a track record of using their power to abuse women and children.
