When I worked as a specialist teaching assistant, I saw that children with special educational needs had been abandoned by politicians. The Green Party: Cambridge & South Cambs have now decided their county council committee appointments - I will be on Children and Young People, among others ✊

I was down at Great St. Mary’s the other evening to help out with Peter Freeman’s visit, as I wanted all residents to be able to scrutinise his plans for the city. I was tasked with keeping anybody shady out - I’ll be honest, for a couple of councillors it was a close call 🤨🤨🤨

If we want to save the planet, it’s really important that we aren’t wasteful ♻️ Head down to The Pitt Building today to pick up some of Cambridge University Press’ (slightly) damaged stock for cheap 📚 I got some great stuff about early modern England, including its economy 🥰

At full council this week, I was lucky enough to ask the first oral question of the year, which focused on a lack of support for deaf members of our community at the Guildhall 💚 With a deaf parent and experience working in deaf education, this meant a lot to me ☺️

Two full council meetings kept me busy last week! A new political year has just begun and we’ve already seen a couple of staggeringly silly decisions made… I’m spending my bank holiday Monday catching up on emails from residents and scheduling some meetings for the week ahead 💚

This week, you may have read in both the Cambridge News and the Cambridge Independent that the Green Party: Cambridge & South Cambs are the only party taking the crisis facing the River Cam seriously, something that we will continue doing going forward 💧

On my way home from a day sorting out issues around Abbey, here are my thoughts on who I want to be the party’s next deputy leaders 🌱 I have now voted for Frank Adlington-Stringer and Ash Routh as my top picks 💚 However, I also think Mothin Ali and Rachel Millward would be fantastic 💚
