The White House’s stated claim is that - essentially - they can send whomever they want to El Salvador, regardless of legal or protected status, and they have no duty to fix it and you have no recourse to make them fix it

Just tried to explain the difference between a PhD Dr and a medical Dr to my five year-old. Daughter: "Hmm well I'm going to be the kind of doctor that helps people."

I can count on two hands the number of elected Democrats who’ve spoken out forcefully about the government disappearing innocent people to a foreign torture dungeon. It’s infuriating. Stop worrying about the fucking polling and say something. Joe fucking Rogan has spoken

“‘The hardest-hit properties are not luxury homes, but multifamily, commercial and industrial buildings — the very types we need to support housing production and job growth,’ mottsmith said.”

IMPORTANT: Sotomayor, in the dissent, emphasizes that all 9 justices believe that the Trump administration cannot do what it wants to do: shove people onto a plane with no due process at all. They openly told the DC Circuit they were going to do that if they won. No review.

KEY TAKEAWAY: Supreme Court is UNANIMOUS in requiring due process: - Roberts majority: Trump admin MUST give notice and time to challenge in court. - Kavanaugh concurrence: Judicial review available - Sotomayor dissent: All 9 agree deportations without due process are illegal

Unclear why so many media outlets are making the headline the TROs being dissolved. The Supreme Court CLEARLY says that you can't be deported under the AEA without reasonable due process. That should be the narrative -- otherwise you're playing into the Administration's hands!

My exact thought. The Trump admin definitely can get Abrego back — they’re paying El Salvador to keep him! But will they?

Jon Favreau (@jonfavs) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Trump admin says they don't have the power to facilitate Garcia's release Bukele says he doesn't have the power to return Garcia So who has the power to facilitate the release of people who've been mistakenly sent to a foreign prison for the rest of their lives? No one in the

If you're an elected Democrat and you don't speak out about Trump's proposal to jail American citizens in a foreign torture dungeon for life, what are you even doing in public office? Why have the job?

Aaron Reichlin-Melnick (@reichlinmelnick) 's Twitter Profile Photo

We are at a dangerous, dangerous moment in US history, where the President of the United States is threatening to send US citizens to be imprisoned by a foreign ally, and the foreign ally is saying it won't respect an US court orders to release people that it's holding.

Once again, if this guy had just been deported, this would not be a story. The reason it's important is that Trump has sent this guy to prison for life, even though he was never even arrested for anything, let alone convicted, in the 14 years he was in the U.S.

[BILL ALERT] AB 609, which exempts infill housing from additional review under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) while preserving CEQA review for planning, has passed out of Assembly Natural Resources.

California legislators be like "We can all agree that we have a severe housing shortage. But here is why I haven't supported a major bill to change it in 12 years."

Huge news: over the objections of the chair, #SB79, Scott Wiener's impactful new housing bill to upzone around public transit stations, has PASSED it's first committee hearing! Major win for housing advocates today!

This is great. Any Dem who can’t go on a three-hour podcast where they get challenged by the hosts shouldn’t be the nominee in 2028.

I've been reading Rick Perlstein's series of books on the 1960s and 1970s, and it is genuinely so odd how similar the past 15 years have been to that period.
