it’s about damn time. tonight is dedicated to all the Asian moms, immigrant moms, single moms, working class moms who sacrificed and swallowed bitterness so their children could walk through new thresholds, break through artificial ceilings, and etch their names into history.

I need to go to bed but keep thinking about how the Oscars Best Picture is about an Asian girl who searches across the multiverse for a version of her mom who would understand and accept her and I just can’t stop crying

Unlike previous decampments, literally no one I asked could tell me where people were supposed to go. Not the cops or the city workers. It’s not just that there isn’t an adequate plan in place, no one even bothered to pretend there was a plan at all.

serious colonial violence enacted in the dtes today. turning off cameras, smashing someone’s smudge bowl, destroying property. so many resources wasted to displace an already displaced population. these funds could be funnelled into programs and services instead. just vile.

In the many horrors unfolding (border deaths, decampments, police killings, genocidal occupation), remember cruelty *is the point* Humans are capable of empathy & logic, but *systems* of violence are built to control, subjugate, dehumanize, oppress. Cruelty is always the point.

Finally watched the David Choe interview and it was sickening. The blatant misogyny, racial fetishization of Black women, misogynoir, and degradation of massage workers… it was all disgusting and laid out extremely plainly.

It’s disappointing that no one from the @beefnetflixtv team or cast has spoken up or even acknowledged the issue, while Choe is *actively* trying to suppress the video on Twitter via copyright claims.

It’s Juneteenth AND reparations. It’s Juneteenth AND end police violence + the War on Drugs. It’s Juneteenth AND end housing + education apartheid. It’s Juneteenth AND teach the truth about white supremacy in our country. Black liberation must be prioritized.

What would happen if migrants on boats with limited resources were also seen as brave explorers gifted with curiosity and wonder for depths unknown, I wonder.

As an Asian American, I firmly and unequivocally denounce our allying with white supremacy and white domination in order to earn our place in this world. Our proximity to whiteness will not save us.

When something like this happens, you look out at the people you know, and like, and love, and live with their voices in your world, and you want them to speak up, less because you dare to hope that it will change anything than because, when they don't, you feel smaller and alone
