I am working on a proposal for an edited book and I don’t think anything has ever made me feel more imposter syndrome than cold-emailing potential contributors, like I threw away any confidence tenure might’ve given me immediately, this was always bound to happen wasn’t it?

Since this post I’ve caught Covid, lost AC during a heat wave, and broken my leg / had surgery. Surely an R&R has to be coming soon to even the scales?!

Took a family vacation with a broken leg, couldn’t go to the beach or the park or to restaurants, spent the whole week with a book on the porch. Overall 10/10 no notes, and I think the family had fun without me too?

Got the review “Presumably it’s a brief report because no mediations or moderations were statistically significant, but the manuscript doesn’t present any of these null results.” Nope! Normally reviewers hate what I *did* do, now I’m getting rejections for what I *didn’t* do! 👍

After surgery my foot is now permanently numb, so it always feels like it’s fallen asleep. That fits pretty well with my personality (terribly numb, often asleep), but I’m still pretty bummed I’ll never have a 100% functioning limb again. Any advice on getting active again?
