ALOHA Posters at JES I am in the process of taping ALOHA posters (8.5 X 11 inches) on the outer walls of our buildings. These posters will serve as a reminder that ALOHA is all around us. Here is what the posters outside of our R-building bathrooms look like.

Summer Room Cleaning Big MAHALO to our JES Custodians for working in small groups to clean louvers and light fixtures . . . sweep, vacuum, and shampoo carpets . . and strip., wax, and buff the floors of our rooms. Mahalo for preparing our rooms for the upcoming 25-26 School Year!

ALOHA Posters Work continues on putting up our ALOHA Posters. In addition to Building, C, D, and R . . . we now have brand new posters in Building M, N, O. and Q. Up next will be our Kindergarten classrooms and pillars along our covered walkways.

Mahalo CAS Dilwith and KMR Complex TEAM! MAHALOs go out to CAS Dilwith and her KMR Complex TEAM for providing the funds necessary for 30 vertical whiteboards. Each of our classrooms will now have an additional whiteboard for our Building Thinking Classroom lessons

MAHALO to our JES Custodians and Cafe TEAM! Our custodians and cafe workers found some time to put together each of the 30 whiteboards. Our TEAM of teachers will be surprise when they see these brand new whiteboards in their classrooms!

ALOHA Posters and Banners All of our 8.5 in X 11 in ALOHA posters have been put up on the walls of all of our buildings. Next step . . .. putting up all of the 3 ft X 5 ft ALOHA Banners! When walking from building to building our JES students will be reminded of our ALOHA values

National Sun Yat-sen University June 25 - Miss Awai and Miss Krieger shared their 3D Printing - Biomimicry projects with teachers and students from the National Sun Yat-sen University in Taiwan. Our visitors learned about EduKits and about the Ala Wai canal.

Troubleshoot/Fix/Replace AC Units MAHALOs to both Narito Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning and to Mashima Electric for servicing/maintaining/troubleshooting/replacing our AC units. Our students and teacher will have a “cool” and “comfortable” classroom on the first day of school

Perimeter Fence June 30th - Starcom Constrution began working on the installation of our new fence. Metal fence post hangers and orange 4 foot screens were installed along the first stretch of work to be done.

Fiber Optic Cables - CCSI CCSI continued their work on our new phone and PA systems. They began the process of pulling and wiring fiber optic cables to all buildings and to all classrooms.

ALOHA 3X5 Banners Mahalo to Mr. Arex and Mr. Kevin for climbing up ladders to install our A-L-O-H-A banners on C and R buildings. These banners have replaced that banners that were put up last summer.

EL - Summer ELO (K-2) Visits the East-West Center DARKNESS AND LIGHT: Shadow Puppetry of Asia exhibit. Intricately carved leather puppets come to life on an illuminated screen, casting flickering shadows that dance and move in harmony with the music and narrative.

EL - Summer ELO Visitation of Ka Papa Loʻi ʻo Kānewai Students also got to see and work in the taro patch. Parent chaperones. Miss Kitamura, & our students engaged and immersed themselves in working the land and learned about the importance of the Ahupuaʻa system.

JES Tilapia Harvest MAHALO to everyone who came out for our Tilapia Harvest. Thanks to Mr. Kevin and Mr. Arex for helping me with the harvest and restocking of our 3,000 gallon pond and to my wife and son for transporting the juvenile fish from Waimanalo Feed to JES

EL - Summer ELO: Lyon Arboretum JES hosted members from the Lyon Arboretum. The arboretum is within our school’s ahupuaʻa. They learned about the importance of native plants and the work that the arboretum is doing to ensure the health and safety of these valuable plants.

Relocation of Tilapia Our different varieties of tilapia were relocated to specific ponds within our aquaponics set up. Reds - 3,000 pond, blues - 350 gallon round pond, hybrids - 500 gallon pond, red juveniles - 300 gallon pond

Relocation of Hibiscus Plants Hibiscus plants that were formerly located along Ala Wai Blvd have been temporarily relocated to an area behind building C. Once the new fence and irrigation systems are installed . . .these plants will be returned to their area near our fence line.

JES/Kaimuki Complex Feathers Found some time to pound in the anchors and set up our brand new JES logo feathers with our Kaimuki Complex logo. There are a total of 7 feathers that are located at our Kapahulu entrance and another 4 feathers at our Wai Nani Way entrance,

Summer Math PD Miss Imamura from our State Office led an exciting PD at Jefferson. Teachers engaged in "low floor, high ceiling" math tasks, played differentiated games, explored online resources, and learned about the priority standards for math to help focus their instruction
