Groups that contract w/ the city to aid migrants can only refer them to the Asylum Application Help Center if they're within 4 weeks of their deadline to do so, Daniel Parra Mejía reports, “delaying all the economic advantages that come with filing for asylum” bit.ly/3TooVii

Getting a slot with the city's Asylum Application Help Center is not so simple. Migrants must still be in shelter or recently left, and groups that work w/ the city to serve new arrivals can only refer people within 4 weeks of their asylum filing deadline. bit.ly/3TooVii

It’s a tough day at NY Public Radio. My former WNYC 🎙 colleagues are receiving layoff notices. When will management take accountability for so many wrong decisions in recent years?

🧵 Most NYers have a sense of how difficult it is to run a small biz in the city and perhaps also have hated a loud bar/restaurant. The reporting shows a Mayor Eric Adams staffer connected a biz owner to PC's twin brother in an alleged shakedown to meddle in both.

The mayor’s post is community noted because he didn’t mention every person shot on the subway — including one random straphanger in critical condition after being shot in the head — was shot by police.

This past week has been intense for us at The Haitian Times. Threats, a canceled gathering, and our editor being swatted—yet we’re standing strong. Grateful for the support from journalists and leaders. We’ll continue covering Springfield and shining a light on anti-Haitian hate.
