'Very Important House' was a project being developed by Johnen Vazquez (known for Invader Zim) for 4 years. The entire crew were super excited to show off the project and the pilot but Disney (who owns the rights) decided to not continue with it or even release the pilot.
The Rosemary’s Baby shot in the movie is the same way. A very indulgent (and arguably easy) nod, but in a context that kind’ve redefines it, turns it into a moment of empowerment, taking the imagery away from Polanski. It’s not like it’s groundbreaking feminism, but still.
I can totally see that, but I think in the context of a woman filmmaker reclaiming film depictions of female hysteria, it works for me? It’s a grandiose reference, but I think deserved and pulls it off.
