No. 7 - …I get asked a lot of about audience numbers. Another comedian told me that the average audience at the Edinburgh Fringe is 7 people. Not sure this is true but be prepared to not have people at your show. Don’t tie it to your self-worth though!

No. 8 - There are what, some 2000 other shows going on? Just try to do the best show you can. Some of my best shows have been to smaller audiences.

No. 9- How to deal with low numbers? Well if you can do the show to one person, thats better than having no one at the show. My last fringe, I had to pull the show 4 times and in 2023, 3 times due to no one turning up. Be thankful you can perform.

No.10 - Have fun on stage. Such an ambiguous sentence…basically “enjoy yourself” on stage. A daily show can suck the life out of you. So tell yourself ‘Im going to enjoy this’ instead of ‘I need to get through this’. This is a lot harder than it sounds. Everyone has off days.

No. 11 - Bit more of a venue specific one, but hand overs between shows can be stressful. Try to ask the programmers to have you in between acts with less setup e.g. if you need to have a projector setup, have a standup act be on before you etc.
