For those keeping score at home on my return to UT Austin while running a TV show, two small biz's, and having a family... Got two A's. One in American Literature which I somehow forgot to take in 2003 and The Politics of Film. American Lit in 6-ish weeks was intense. To be

I have complex feelings about the influencer/independent journalist coverage of the flood. The term “media” is evolving, and that’s a good thing. But so is verifying the truth before you say/repost/share something. My Texas Monthly colleague wrote about the dynamic during the

I love summer in West Texas. Most folks think it’s too hot, but I don’t mind it and I hate to miss the beauty of the thunderstorms. This is the greenest I’ve seen it here since 2019. If you’ve never been this time of year you’re missing out.

Year in and year out, I don't think I can overstate the value I've gotten from being in a peer entrepreneurial group like EO. So much personal and business growth has come from it, even 8 years since joining.

Getting an A in an International Governance class at UT Austin is waaaaaay easier having been the CEO of a logistics firm than it was when I was a 20 year old knucklehead.

I’m undefeated in catching a fish on camera for Texas Country Reporter. 6 stories shot. 6 fish caught. Today was a bass on the Colorado River, specifically Lady Bird Lake.

While out filming a story for Season 54, I wandered into an old East San Antonio cemetery, the kind where the grass grows tall and the headstones lean with time. That’s where I spotted a lone granite marker, its carving still sharp after nearly ninety years. The name read James

Wrapped up my last exam and paper for UT Austin summer courses yesterday. Barring a total collapse in either, I should have 4 A's on the 12 hours I took. First time I've gotten a 4.0 in a semester...with two kids at home, two small businesses, and hosting a TV show.

Been thinking of reviving the Texas Humor clothing and retail brand but only with stuff made in Texas/America. With tariffs on the imported stuff, I think the pricing will be comparable finally.

Calling “bro country”, country music is like calling vegan chili, chili. It might have flavor, but it ain’t got any meat.

I’ve been giving serious consideration to getting a Light Phone. I’ve had the same cell number for over 20 years, so don’t want to ditch it. Just want to ditch carrying my iPhone most of the time. Anyone have any experiences with it?
