This is King Mountain behind the Matanuska River in Alaska. Quitting porn can feel like climbing a mountain like this, but at least you know with every step you come closer to the peak. If you keep putting one foot in front of the other you will eventually get there.

I took this picture of the moon over a mountain peak in Alaska's Portage Valley years ago. This is where Explorer Glacier is located. We camped in full view of the glacier. God was doing a work in our hearts even then. God is patient and His work is woven like tapestry.

This is a picture I took of downtown Anchorage Alaska about twenty years ago. This was the launch point of all of my village therapy adventures. When I was born, the population of Anchorage was about 48,000. Now it is about 290,000. That's about 39% of the entire population.

I took this picture of one of the mountainous glaciated areas of the Chugach Range in Alaska. You can see those pine trees have a tough life. Winters there are very harsh. "For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now." Romans 8:22

Have you ever heard the haunting call of the loon? I took this sunset photo camping with my wife in our beautiful state of Alaska. At this time of evening you can hear the loons call to one another. It's both haunting and soothing at the same time.

"The grass withers, the flower fades, but the Word of our God lives forever." Isaiah 40:8. This is a picture I took of Alpenglow Mountain along Alaska's Turnagain Arm of the Cook Inlet. It reminds me of how God's eternal nature gives us peace beyond all understanding.

When I went to the villages to do counseling in Alaska I sometimes took a photo of the thermometer. Nothing gets called off until you get to -40F so this was the start of a full day of counseling and relating to others in the community. I actually really dislike being cold.

"As for man, his days are like grass; as a flower of the field, so he flourishes." Proverbs 103:15. I took this photograph somewhere in Alaska fifteen years ago. Another look at the beauty given to us by God...

I took this picture on a return trip from a community I served in Alaska. This was unique in that I was a volunteer, the local airline donated the flights, and kind people put me up for a few days at a time. It was a privilege to support the community through counseling.

Job 37:6 speaks of God's power when it says, "He says to the snow, "Fall on the earth." This is a mountain in Portage Valley Alaska just 50 miles from Anchorage. There was so much snow the contours of the mountain look smooth. It's about a 3,500 foot vertical rise.

This was a display of hunting success in one of the villages of Alaska. It's from subsistence hunting done by Athabascan natives over a span of years. I find it hard to decipher at this point how many antlers are displayed here. There may be a couple caribou among the moose.

Psalm 147:16 says, "He gives snow like wool; He scatters the frost like ashes." This passage tells of many manifestations of God's power. This photo is from a winter adventure near Girdwood Alaska and the Alyeska Ski Resort.

This is Skilak Lake in Alaska. It's glacier fed and can be very dangerous because strong winds come up suddenly. In that way this picture is deceptive. I caught it during a very nice moment. Once my dad and I got pinned on the other side of the lake by 60MPH winds.

1 Corinthians 13:12: "For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known." It will be good to know our Lord fully face to face one day.

This was a stop sign before it was covered with snow. That winter there was a lot of snow in Johnson Pass between Homer and Anchorage. We drove through there today and people were picking blueberries. I like it better in the fall time.

James 5:7: "Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains." Alaska's Matanuska Glacier is a great place to wait upon the coming of our Lord.

Soon the "termination dust" will start creeping down the mountains in Alaska. This is a mountain in the Chugach range with snow on the top couple thousand feet. We call the snow termination dust because it signals the termination of summer. I'M NOT READY YET!
